I’ve linked to several articles lately on the growing financial problems facing top American meat producers, but this CNN piece is the best I’ve seen yet. It looks at the meat industry’s overcapacity, and offers details about how the the selling price of America’s meat and poultry currently isn’t enough to cover costs.
The piece calls America’s meat producers, “…an industry in trouble,” and then quotes Tyson Foods’ CEO:
It is pretty common knowledge that in the long run, the industry cannot continue the level of losses that are being incurred
The article aptly compares the situation to that facing the airline industry: overcapacity coupled with surging costs is a devastating one-two punch.
Let me close by offering a brief but cogent analysis of the situation: ha ha, LOL, :D Link.
