Twelve Deaths Now Tied to Maple Leaf

August 26, 2008

Things keep getting worse for the Canadian deli meat producer. Health authorities now say that twelve deaths may be connected to Maple Leaf’s listeria recall. There’s also the suspicion, currently lacking evidence, that other slaughterhouses may also be shipping listeria-contaminated meat.

Given that Hallmark/Westland was forced out of business this past year following a major recall, it’ll be interesting to see if Maple Leaf manages to stay in business. Link.
