Here’s some huge meat news that doesn’t yet seem to be making widespread headlines. Mexico has just suspended shipments of all meat to the United States. We’re not talking one problematic slaughterhouse; we’re talking every single slaughterhouse in Mexico.
What’s amusing here is that they’re saying Mexico’s government has taken the initiative to impose this export ban. Which is a heckuva lot like USA recalls, which the USDA always tries to frame as “voluntary” and initiated by the slaughterhouse.
Anyway, how screwed up does a country’s meat inspection system have to be for every single slaughterhouse to be banned from shipping meat to the United States?
