Soymilk Now Available in School Cafeterias

September 25, 2008

This story’s a couple weeks old, and, from what I can tell, has only been covered in a press release from the Soyfoods Association. But it’s important and exciting news: The USDA is now allowing parents or guardians to request, in writing, that their child be served soymilk. These requests apply to all meals served by the National School Lunch Program and the Breakfast Program. Little by little, the dairy industry’s hegemony over what school kids drink is diminishing.

Good for kids, good for cows, and endlessly annoying to Nina Planck. What more could anyone ask for? (Thanks, David) Link.
