Huge and wonderful news: the New York Times has called both California’s Prop 2 and Massachusetts’ Measure 3 elections. According to the Times, both initiatives will win.
If this prediction holds, California will ban battery cages, veal crates, and gestation crates. Tonight may well go down as America’s first truly significant defeat of factory farming.
Meanwhile, Massachusetts’ voters appear poised to get rid of greyhound racing.
