One in Two Hundred American Kids Are Veggie

January 12, 2009

A new U.S. government survey of 9000 families indicates that about one in every 200 kids under eighteen is vegetarian. I’m guessing this is the largest such survey done in America to date — if anyone knows otherwise, please contact me and I’ll update this entry.

The number I’d really like to see regards, not kids, but college students. Since it’s so much easier to go veggie in college, finding out the percentage of veggie college students would offer real insight into just how quickly the veggie movement is gaining ground. Link.
