A couple years back, New York City banned partially hydrogenated oil from the city’s restaurants. Lawmakers elsewhere in the Northeast are pushing similar legislation, but it’s an uphill battle. One Republican from Stamford, Connecticut slams his local initiative:
Government has to stay out of our lives…It’s about choice. If people are stupid enough to fill their diet with trans fats, they’re just stupid.
He’d have a point if restaurant food made with trans fats was adequately labeled as such. But it never is. Link.
