USA Bacon Flu Cases Nearly Double Overnight

May 8, 2009

The CDC just released today’s bacon flu numbers. We’ve gone from 896 cases in 41 states yesterday to 1639 cases in 43 states today.

Luckily, the strain in America seems no more deadly than garden-variety flu, so I still highly doubt we’re doing to see fatalities spin out of control. Rather, this outbreak should be a reminder that, one of these years, if nothing’s done about factory farming, things will likely turn into a horror show.

And, sadly, I don’t foresee any meaningful changes being made as a result of this outbreak.
