HSUS’ factory farming campaign director Paul Shapiro has a great piece on CivilEats.com about the scorched earth tactics taken by CCF and other front groups for factory farming.
This scorched earth strategy is of course the tactic of an industry that must not believe it can win in the marketplace of ideas. And indeed, that’s the predicament of those who defend confining farm animals in cages so small they can’t even turn around or extend their limbs.
It’s a great argument. Trouble is that Shapiro ends the piece by writing “let’s make sure they’re not successful” at launching deceitful attacks against animal protection groups.
Easier said than done. I doubt that most veggie advocates know how to take personal action to subvert industry propaganda. But it’s a vital skill and one I’ll be addressing directly and indirectly in my new blog, An Activist’s Life. Link.
