An article at CivilEats.com explores the crisis facing family owned dairies, and predicts that a third of U.S. dairies could go out of business this year.
While this is a tragedy for family-owned farms, and a boon for the huge corporate dairies, I have to think it’ll open up a big opportunity for vegan activists. The fewer stakeholders that exist in the dairy industry, the easier the industry will be to topple.
The best defense the dairy industry has against food activists is a likable family who owns a couple hundred cows. When these people are bankrupted, the only line of defense remaining will be the sort of PR nitwits who create laughably bad propaganda like the SafeFoodInc.org website. Link.
