They’re calling it a surprise move, and I must admit that I’m surprised as well: the Philadelphia Eagles have signed Michael Vick. At a $1.6 million salary, Vick will only be making about a tenth of what a top NFL quarterback earns. Plus, he’ll be second string behind Donovan McNabb.
I was sure that Vick could only get hired by a team that was desperate for a first string quarterback. For Philly to hire Vick when they’ve already got a go-to first string QB, that just seems weird. Why disgust much of your fan base to land a quarterback you’re not desperate for?
Whatever. As a Giants fan, I’m always delighted to be handed a new reason to hate the Eagles. Link.
