Here’s the latest attempt by pork industry minions to force the public to stop using the phrase swine flu. A Missouri congressman is attempting to degrade the phrase by calling it slang. H1N1, by contrast, isn’t slang at all, but is instead a bullshit made up word that the general public refuses to use.
The congressman has written the Obama administration asking that steps be taken to further discourage the media and public from calling the virus swine flu. Short of fining reporters or locking them up, expect this effort to have zero effect. It’s nice to see the pork industry squirm. (Via Mark.) Link.
