New York Times Reviews _Eating Animals_, Sort of

November 15, 2009

The good news is that the New York Times just reviewed Jonathan Safran Foer’s Eating Animals.

The bad news is that the review is written by one of those annoying academic nitwits who vomit out big words in sentences that don’t parse. The conclusion is especially incoherent:

What is an animal? What is a human being? It would be tempting to answer with the old truism if it weren’t so impossibly ambiguous: We are what we eat.

So, the Times assigned an incompetent writer to review Eating Animals, and thus blew its chance to advance the dialog surrounding the book. Link.
