No good deed goes unpunished, at least if you’re a former Beatle seeking to publicize the ruinous effects of meat production.
Paul McCartney made some pointed remarks to the European Parliament, seeking to get officials to raise the issue of meat production at next week’s United Nations climate change conference in Copenhagen.
For his troubles, McCartney has been widely mocked. There’s an idiotic piece in the Telegraph, a sneering blog entry from the Wall Street Journal, and scorn from both the Irish Farmers’ Association and the UK’s National Farmers Union.
Incredibly, Aljazeera was the only major media outlet I could find that provided solid coverage of McCartney’s effort. Link.
