You’ve probably never heard of the menhaden, a small algae eating fish found off the coast of the Northeastern United States, but you’ll likely care immensely about the fate of this species once you read this incredibly persuasive New York Times opinion piece. It turns out that one Omega-3 supplement company is sucking up huge numbers of menhaden in federal waters, at massive environmental cost, and the US government is turning a blind eye. Link.
