Top Food Services Company Rolls Out Flexitarian Menu

January 5, 2010

The world’s largest food service company, Compass, just launched a comprehensive “flexitarian” initiative after working with The Humane Society of the United States. The company provides dining services for 8500 companies and universities, and will immediately offer a greatly expanded menu of vegetarian or vegan meals.

Not only is this likely to dramatically reduce the company’s use of animal products, it will make full-time vegetarian or vegan eating a lot more achievable to many people. I remember feeling terrified when I first contemplated vegetarianism: apart from peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, virtually every meal I knew of featured some kind of meat. Link.
