Wal-Mart’s Private Label Eggs Now Cage-Free

February 18, 2010

America has just taken the biggest single step imaginable toward ending battery cages: Wal-Mart, the nation’s biggest grocery chain, has just announced that all of its private label eggs are now cage-free.

The writing is on the wall for the egg industry; it’s no longer a matter of if battery cages will be banned in America, but when. We’ve got many more years before this day comes, but it’s now inevitable.

Big congratulations to HSUS’ factory farming campaign team for engaging with Wal-Mart on this issue. (Via Singer.) Link.
