SeaWorld Under Fire

February 26, 2010

Pressure from the mainstream media is intensifying on SeaWorld to stop animal exploitation.

The Wall Street Journal published a persuasive and totally reasonable essay titled, “The SeaWorld Tragedy: What Whales Want.” It concludes:

The terrible incident at SeaWorld only serves to underline the fact that even in the second decade of the 21st century, we have yet to sort out what we really want from whales. What they want from us is more clear: they want to be left alone. Link.

And CNN’s Jane Velez-Mitchell writes:

Nature did not put whales on this earth to splash kids while stuck in a pen. This is the 21st century. It is time to change. Link.

Also, in a video just one step removed from a Jerry Springer segment, Velez-Mitchel squared off on CNN against an annoying guy with a hat who was defending SeaWorld. Link.
