FDA Contemplates Approving Frankenfish

June 26, 2010

The FDA sounds as though they’re getting ready to approve the retail sale of genetically modified salmon, who grow twice as fast as wild salmon. The entire approval process appears opaque and corrupt, not that that should come as any surprise.

Adding insult to injury, it seems unlikely that the FDA will require genetically modified fish to be labeled as such.

I guess the thinking is: if you’re stupid enough to eat farmed salmon in the first place, why would you care if the fish was genetically modified? They may have a point there. Link.
