Check out this chart comparing the time Americans have collectively spent passively sitting like sponges and watching television, to the time that’s been spent building the enormous and massively useful Wikipedia.
What do you suppose a television viewing vs. animal advocacy chart would look like for the vegan community? Put another way, imagine what could be done for animals if you made a personal rule to devote one hour of advocacy for every ten hours you spend watching TV. Admittedly, that’s a pathetically small commitment, but it’s also a vastly larger commitment than most vegans make—and one that would rid the world of massive amounts of suffering.
Now imagine if every vegan made a similar commitment to use ten percent of his or her cognitive surplus for animals.
