The worldwide status of animals just took another step forward.
Voters in Catalonia, Spain, have banned bullfighting from the region. In its coverage of this ban, Time magazine calls bullfighting a:
… centuries-old sport (or art, depending on your perspective)…
Those are actually comparable perspectives. The majority perspective—the one shared by the people who passed this ban—is that bullfighting is a barbarism.
I expect bullfighting to eventually be outlawed throughout Spain, and this week’s vote in Catalonia establishes key precedent. Link.
