Leaving ethical issues completely aside, the hunt has turned into a financial disaster:
In 2009, one sealer commented that there was more money to be made collecting pop bottles from the side of the road.

To put it simply, there is negligible commercial demand for seal products. That means there is no time like the present to call an end to the killing and forge a better future for Canada, our fishermen and our wildlife.
Let’s hope the momentum is seized to enact a ban. The nonprofit organization HarpSeals.org has created an email tool for animal advocates seeking to put an end to the hunt. (Via Michelle.) Link.
