While attention remains focused on Germany, there are three different E. coli outbreaks in Tennessee. The state is tracking recently confirmed cases involving O157, O103, and O169.
Meanwhile Germany’s 0104:H4 outbreak has now killed 37 people, and another hundred people will require kidney transplants.
2011 may go down as the year in which a half-dozen previously disregarded E. coli strains became as feared as O157:H7.
