Vegan cake options abound.

Vegan Cake

Cakes are traditionally made with eggs, milk and butter. Yet surprisingly, these ingredients are in no way essential to baking a moist and delicious cake. In many cases you can replace the non-vegan ingredients in your favorite cake recipe with vegan alternatives like vegan butter, soy milk, or egg replacer. Or, better yet, start from scratch with a vegan cake recipe.

You are just one good vegan baking cookbook away from being able to whip up delicious cakes that will make people say, “I can’t believe it’s vegan!”

You can also buy vegan cakes from many bakeries, including the bakery department at any Whole Foods Market. Many vegan-friendly restaurants and coffee shops also sell vegan cake.

Vegan Cake Cookbooks

You can find plenty of wonderful cake recipes in both general vegan cookbooks as well as vegan dessert cookbooks. But if you’re obsessed with the topic, you can also buy one of these titles that offer nothing but vegan cake recipes:

Desserts Beyond Cakes

If baking your own cakes strikes you as too big and ambitious of a project, my vegan cupcakes page will introduce you to the easiest possible cake variations. And since pie is probably the second most famous dessert after cakes, I’ve also written what there is to write about your vegan pie options.

Cakes, pies, and cupcakes are all niches within vegan baking, which is worth an article of its own. And finally, to zoom out all the way and read about everything sweet in the vegan universe, please see my vegan desserts page.
